Privacy Policy

This notice describes the new Ragamuffin Archive website and its review preview. For a question about your information or an archived comment, email ragamuffinarchive@gmail.com.

Reading and searching the archive

You do not need a reader account to browse the archive. The new website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical request information such as IP addresses and browser information to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Archive search runs in your browser using a public index. Search words appear in the page address and may remain in your browser history or be included if you share that address. The website does not include a separate advertising or analytics script.

If you change the Light/Dark appearance, your browser stores that choice locally so it is remembered when you return. The preference is not sent to an analytics service.

Comments and the historical archive

We preserve public comments from the original archive, including the displayed author name, comment, date and reply relationships. The website’s historical comment copy does not publish the original commenter’s email address or IP address.

The new discussion service is GraphComment. When it is available, you can choose to load it from the Conversation section. Loading it connects your browser to GraphComment; its service may process technical information, use cookies or browser storage, and handle the information you enter. Your displayed name and approved comments are public. Please avoid including private contact details or other sensitive information in a comment.

GraphComment manages its own accounts and sign-in. See its privacy policy for commenters for account information, service providers, retention and account deletion. Reader sign-in is separate from the website’s writer editor. New comments are not enabled on the preview until moderation checks are complete.

Audio, video and external links

Pages may contain players from YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Mixcloud, Internet Archive, Vimeo or SoundCloud. A player may connect to its provider when the page opens or the player comes into view, even before you press play. Providers can receive technical information about your browser and request, and may use cookies, browser storage or information from an account you have with them.

New YouTube episode embeds use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain. This does not make playback anonymous. Each provider’s privacy policy applies to its service. Links to music services and social networks take you to separate websites.

Contact email and writer access

If you email us, we receive your address, message and any attachments so we can respond. Send only the information needed for your request. Email is handled by our email provider.

Trusted writers use Pages CMS and GitHub to manage posts and images. Their account providers handle authentication. Website content and edit history are stored in the private project repository; trusted editors can see shared drafts. Writer access is not a public reader membership system.

Questions, corrections and removal requests

To ask about information we hold, request a correction, or request removal of an archived comment, email ragamuffinarchive@gmail.com. Include the page address and enough information to identify the comment or request. We may need to confirm that it relates to you. Requests involving a GraphComment account can also be directed to GraphComment using the options in its privacy policy.

Removing material from the current website may not immediately remove copies from backups, edit history, search engines or other services. Retention and deletion depend on the service and any applicable requirements. This notice will be updated when the website’s services change.
